New AdWords Reports in Google Analytics

June 16th, 2010

In May, Google started rolling out some new Google Analytics reports based on Google AdWords. On Friday, they have announced that these reports are now available to all.

Whilst some of the information that they are showing, is the same as it always was if you had your Analytics and AdWords joined together, they are now offering some reports which I think AdWords users will find impossible to live without after a little while.

The report which really surprised me was the Day Parts Report. This shows a breakdown of your figures for each day of the week and hour of the day.

Whilst AdWords have supplied some of this information with its own reporting, it never presented it with your conversions.

As you can see from the image below, this now comes with Goal Completions, Revenue (if you have e-commerce set up), bounce rate, time on site and pages per visit.

Clicking on the time will then take you to a break down of each day of the week.

Really analysing this information you can figure out when the best time to spend money is and change this in your AdWords settings.

Analytics have also provided us with a report called “Keyword Positions” which lets you know how many clicks your ad received when it was in the Top 3 positions in the sponsored links sections. It also breaks this down into Top and Side bars.

This new AdWords section on Analytics is currently in Beta, so hopefully that means that they will continue to add more useful reports in time.

To see the new section on Analytics, you have to join your AdWords and Analytics together.
