As mentioned in the post “Is Google Now Copying Bing?” Google recently changed the look of their search engine results page by adding a left hand side bar and updating the logo. This has met with some criticism with those who think the search giant are copying Microsoft’s search engine Bing and those who just don’t like it. Danny Sullivan, the editor of Search Engine Land has reported from a conversation with Google Spokesmen Nate Taylor that the design is here to stay and there’s no going back.
In his post “Official: Google Won’t Offer Option To Restore “Classic Google” Look”, Danny explained that when asked, Nate responded with:
“We’re not offering a way to revert back to the old design.”
That pretty much seems that then.
When a big company or organisation makes a massive change, it can sometimes be very hard to admit that they have made a mistake (think London Olympics 2012 logo or Vista) so it comes as no surprise that Google is also sticking to its guns.
Personally it is my belief that people will get used to the new design and forget that there was a problem at all, you never know, they could even grow to love it.
